1.02.03.04.0 Herts County Council/Three Rivers MeetingsHCC will be presenting report at their next meeting (24th Feb) which will determine whether a feasibility study needs to be carried out on secondary school capacity. We need to ensure that any new school would have a priority catchment area of WD3. CV to include this with her meeting with Ann Shaw and to feedback on this meeting. Two sites have been suggested for a new secondary school by Three Rivers and Herts CC.We now need to ensure that there is a schedule of meetings between Three Rivers and HCC to keep progress going.

Next General Meeting

Meeting arranged for Wednesday 10th February 8pm at St. Peter’s School (subject to school hall availability).

  • Rickmansworth Residents Association to be invited
  • Richard Thake, Ann Shaw and Barbara Lamb to be invited
  • Rickmansworth Community Times to be invited

MS has drafted letter to send out to all local Chair of Governers asking to let parents know about above meeting and asking them to petition HCC regarding the number of choices being offered to Hertfordshire children (prior to HCC’s meeting on 24.02.10)

AW to edit letter and ensure there is a very simple clear ‘call to action’.

Another letter to be written for parents to send to HCC to request more general information about what they are doing regarding secondary school admissions.

MS/CV to liaise regarding content of the presentation.

Local map to be obtained from Diane Small.

Publicity

CV advised that local Residents Association are happy to give their support, if we also have a member joining their meetings. Also happy to include an article in their publication ‘Independence’. AW to write copy

Could also look at issuing a flyer to Toddler Groups and Nurseries

CV to contact Hunter Lodge Design to see if they can sponsor a leaflet.

AW to write newsletter to go out to all contacts when there is something new to say.

We have had no feedback from the Croxley Action Group so BP to invite them to an update of our progress. We should then agree together on a press release to Watford Observer.

A.O.B

MS to contact Jon Reynolds for any assistance the diocese can offer.

Any reference to ‘Mill End school’ to be amended on website to ‘WD3 school’.

Our website address to be amended so it comes up when searching on Google. Need to purchase a URL? CG to speak to Matt Bradbeer.

Cllr Mark Watkin is investigating if we can guarantee Westfield as a WD3 school in the meantime. (However, still felt that this was unlikely).

We should ask HCC to show us the data to back up their claim that increased number of choices could disadvantage people living in rural areas.

Next Rickmansworth Local Area Forum is on 24th February in Northwood.

Next HCC meeting 24th February, then 31st March.

Next Three Rivers Council meeting is on 16th February, then 20th April.

Next Committee Meeting arranged for Tuesday 23rd February, 8pm at The Halfway House.
